Creativity and Aesthetics

Prototyping (Woodworking), Ideating, Interaction Design

Description

The goal of this project was to create an alarm clock that held value and meaning in its interaction with the user, rather than the outwards aesthetics or the function of the product. This ‘Aesthetic Interaction’ was achieved by using several ideation techniques. The final alarm clock represents the fight against your previous intentions to wake up. To snooze the alarm, you literally hit away the moving blocks, pushing away your intentions of waking up. To turn off the alarm all blocks need to be removed from the frame, making the decision to get out of bed a calm and conscious one.
